Test Drive #3

ARRIVAL: Your character wakes up in a temple completely naked except for the collar around their neck. Near the spot they wake up is a pile of clothing that is NOT what your character was wearing before they woke up. When they unfold the clothing they will find it's a toga and that there's a pair of sandals under it. Too bad, that's all there is.
The sound of bells soon fills the temple, drowning out the noise of chatter and panic, drawing your attention to the statue in the center of the temple before a loud, booming voice fills your head:

Now I’m certain that you all have many questions, so perhaps you’ll permit me to explain. I, Eros, Son of Ares and Aphrodite, God of Love and Sexual Desire, have brought you to Pathema for a very simple purpose. I offer you sanctuary from the trials and tribulations of your all too dreary existences and in return, I ask only one thing of you. Your devotion. I have seen how reluctant you creatures can be when it comes to matters of the flesh, and so I have ensured that all of you shall have the proper encouragement. Surely you must be aware by now that each of you have been fitted with a collar. I wouldn’t try and remove them if I were you. Your petty magics, or force, will do little more than cause them to tighten I’m afraid. Over a period of fourteen days, your collars will tighten. I’m told it’s a terribly uncomfortable experience and I wouldn’t suggest you push your limits but you mortals are rather a stubborn lot. Still, never let it be said that I didn’t try to warn you. Now if at the end of those fourteen days, you have still refused to show your devotion to your God? You will simply cease to exist. Oh, come now. I am not a cruel and capricious God. You’ll be permitted to return to your previous state of existence, for the mere price of something that you hold dear. A memory of those trivial times from before you were brought to your new home Ah, yes. I do believe I have your attention now, don’t I? But of course, how can you, mere peasants, show your God how much you adore him? I should think the answer is very simple, don’t you? I am the God of Sexual Desire after all. |

SUMMER SOLSTICE: At night, bondfires are lit on the beach, and tables of food from your world are displayed alongside food from foreign places. Music is played all night long, and dancers pull strangers to join them, while the fire breathers put on a show for all to see. At midnight, fireworks light up the night skies before the party rages on until the sun comes up.
Blankets are available all over the beach, some giving more privacy than others...
MONSOON SEASON: It's raining season on the island, but like anything else here, this is no regular rain...
One moment the sky is blue and the sun warm, and one second later, dark grey clouds spill their content on the island residents. Sometimes it comes down as a light mist, and other times in such a manner that anyone running underneath is from head to toe in seconds. Sometimes, thunder rages on, and hail comes down from the sky instead of rain.
Spaces to hide oneself are sparse, and you may have to share your protected corner with someone else...
NETWORK: Everyone is provided with a communication device that gives them access to an island-wide network. These can be used for so many things! Send pictures of the drunk guy at the bar, your boobs or whatever you want!!
WILDCARD: There are forests, mountains, marketplaces, all sorts of places to go and explore on the island. Ideas for settings can be found on the locations pages!
**TDM threads can be used as your sample in your application! It can also be considered in game canon if it is agreed on by all characters involved in said threads.

Antiope | DC Extended Universe
"Eros! Where is my armor!" Antiope bellowed as soon as the voice was finished. "Where are my weapons? Return them to me!" She stood naked and unbothered by that fact, her toga clenched in one hand. Around her throat, she could feel a band of leather - the 'collar' that Eros had referred to. The fact that the arrogant godling though he could collar her like an errant dog infuriated her - she and her sister led an uprising against the men of Greece for just this reason. She would not let any man attempt to control her again.
Her fist strangling the thin material, Antiope stood waiting for a response that didn't come. With that lack of response, her anger simmered down until she was ready to look around at the place where Eros had dropped both her and a group of other people. If there was a threat, she would face it - if there was anyone familiar, she would find them.

[A woman's face flickers into view, with a hint of a frown.]
They tell me that I may use this to speak to people who are not with me. To ask questions. I would ask that if there is a blacksmith on the island, or if someone knows of one, that they would contact me. I have a commission for her - for them.
[After two and a half thousand years, it's not easy for Antiope to stop thinking of female as default.,]
Solstice
Antiope has - grudgingly - come to accept living on the island for now. She's even made half an effort to dress for the occasion, in a clean linen tunic with only one dagger at her side.
The music is both strange and familiar. Antiope has no skill with an instrument herself - her passion has always been for combat - but she can appreciate the sound. It is the same with the food - some familiar, some strange, and all worth trying.
She steps absently over the legs of a couple who have rolled off their blanket into her path, and strides towards the fire breathers. She is fascinated by the skill, and wonders if there is a way it could be used in combat.
NETWORK
Her mouth opens, and her eyebrows furrow and she looks around, trying to figure out if Eros was playing a joke on her. But, no. That... He wasn't even that cruel.
She steps off the main path and fumbles to hit the reply button.]
Antiope. Where are you? How long have you been here?
no subject
Diana? It is good to see you. I have been here . . . perhaps for a day, and I am in the park in the second district. I have been trying to find the training grounds.
[And the blacksmith so that she can get new weapons, and the tanner for more armor. No luck yet.]
no subject
It doesn't even dawn on her that her skirt, blouse and heels aren't anything that her aunt had ever seen her in.]
I... I'll be there shortly. This place, it doesn't have training grounds. But, I shall explain once I get to you.
no subject
[Antiope remembers dying in Diana's arms. There had been a piercing pain, like being speared with only the point of an arrow, and her lifeblood had been sapped from her as she lay there. And then she had been healed, and woken in Eros' temple. ]
no subject
[It really doesn't take her long to get to the park, mainly because she'd been almost jogging to get there in a hurry But once she gets to there, she slows her pace.
She's moving again and looking and it's not much longer before she spots her aunt. She exhales a deep breath and quickens her pace, her heels sinking into the grass but it's not slowing her down any.]
no subject
[She collides with her niece and wraps her arms around her, the relief of having family there drowning the low-level irritation she's been feeling since arriving on the island.]
I am so glad you are here, Diana.
[The clothes are nothing she's ever seen before, especially the entirely impractical footwear, but commenting on Diana's warddrobe can wait for a while.]
no subject
As I am you. I never thought I would get to see you again.
[It is another thing she must be thankful to Eros for. First he'd brought Steve back to her and now her Aunt.
Reluctantly she draws back a bit to study Antiope's face.]
You are well?
no subject
[Antiope examines Diana and her outfit.]
I see your balance has improved, to run on strange shoes like those. Are you well?
[((OOC: The stones/metal pieces used in slingshots were called 'bullets' long before the word was applied to gun ammunition, so Antiope would be familiar with the term and coincidentally using the right term for them.))]
no subject
She chuckles and looks down at her heels. Definitely not ideal in battle but they could be used to stab someone should the need arise.]
A lot has changed since we've last seen each other, obviously my balance is one of them.
But I am overall well. Though, I admit having you here has made things so much better on this island.
no subject
[Antiope is not very good at expressing affection, but given that they've known each other for several thousand years, she knows that Diana will understand.]
video
There are blacksmiths in the market. Not all of them will craft something for a non-native, but some will if you can pay their prices.
no subject
I thank you. I shall enquire at the market.
[He's been helpful already, perhaps he knows more?]
My name is Antiope, General of Themyscira and sister of Hippolyta. What is yours?
no subject
[He says that more like a confirmation than with any surprise. She sure looks like a soldier.]
I'm Frank. Uh, just Frank.
[A lot less impressive than her title, but he doesn't go by Lieutenant anymore. His days as a Marine are over.]
no subject
I am pleased to meet you, Frank. And yes, I am a warrior.
Your words suggest that you too are a soldier. Would you know how much one of these blacksmiths might charge for a sword, or a good knife?
no subject
[Though maybe he still is. He's just fighting a different kind of war these days. Or he was back home.]
More than they charge the natives for one. Somethin' tells me you won't be satisfied with the stuff they try to pawn off for quick cash, either. You can talk to 'em, see what they'll do for you. I can point you to a couple that won't try to take everything you've got. They haggle, so the prices can vary. You might need a job before you can afford one unless you have cash on you already.
no subject
I am familiar with weapons. If they try to sell me something that even an apprentice would be ashamed to forge, I shall demonstrate their error.
[Once, back on Themyscira, she had visited the blacksmith and been given a weapon to try. The balance had been terrible, the steel inferior, the edge blunt, and she had jammed it into a tree and snapped it in half without breaking a sweat. The blacksmith had taken the opportunity to deliver a lecture to her apprentice about the value of good work, and Antiope had followed up with one about the necessity for good weapons.]
Thank you. I would be glad to have the names of those you think I may be able to trade with. I do not have much coin with me, and what I had I exchanged at the bank. What kind of 'jobs' would be available, on this island? I doubt that there is an army to train.
no subject
No, no army.
[Her words made Frank smile a bit, though.]
Odd jobs here and there. More businesses have been opening up and lookin' for help. I work in the market, so you'll probably see me around there. I make deliveries, move goods around, that sorta thing. I'll introduce you to those blacksmiths next time I see you there.
no subject
Deliveries. I see. [She looks thoughtful.]
There must be other warriors on this island. Do they have a place to train?
no subject
You used to training people?
[Far more than Frank knows!]
no subject
I shall seek this place. If not, I shall create one of my own, and teach combat to those who wish to learn.
[At his question, Antiope's eyes crinkle in amusement.]
I have trained an army, Frank, and I have taught my niece everything I know. Yes. I am used to training people.
no subject
Maybe you can train an army strong enough to get us the hell outta here.
no subject
[Given that she's dead back home, and is unlikely to be able to return . . . well. Perhaps it would be enough to pass on to the true afterlife that awaits her. Not until she's got Diana out, though.]
I am pleased to have met you, Frank. I hope we will speak again.
