Natasha is working on her third drink, but is well conditioned to remain uninebriated. She is casually leaning against the pillar, her drink in her hand, watching Ruby subtly. She was always on the lookout for things that piqued her interest, and Ruby definitely fell into that category.
Natasha, considered, an expert at reading any given situation, couldn't get a good read on this one. She had one of two choices, abort and look elsewhere, or investigate. Since the only assumption she made thus far is that the purpose of this party is to meet new people, she stepped away from the pillar, making it impossible for Ruby not to notice her.
