The same (not being hurt) could not, however, be said of the brothers, Kate’s indignation at being gawked at fading once she was able to see the bloody cuts that marred Seth’s face. She can’t even find it in herself to feel defensive at his open glaring at people around him, instead using the time to try and spread what she now realized was a sheet, over herself.

Kate barely managed to get herself covered when Seth’s words caused her brain to short circuit, confusion twisting her features as she looked from one to the other. The fear that had been swirling around inside of her, rushed out with an exhale of breath. Kate left on the ground, numb and staring blankly up at both men as the bickering began.

“What do you mean, you saw me die?”

Did either of them honestly think they could slip something like that into the conversation and she wouldn't want an explanation? Of course, it was ridiculous because she was sitting here looking at them but the fact they both thought it had happened, that had to mean something.

“You can’t have seen me die. I haven’t seen either of you in…” For Richie it had been some months, but Seth? Her gaze shifts from one brother to the other, a slight hardening of her eyes as they briefly lock on Seth’s. Those wounds were still a little raw, despite the time that had passed since Mexico and Kate was quick to look away as she busied her hands with trying to wrap the sheet around her like a towel.

“And we can’t go anywhere, yet. We have to find Freddie.”
