And she did catch Seth’s words, confusion stirring in her hazel-green eyes as she saw the effect they had on Richie. She’d thought things between her and Scott had become as bad as they could possibly be and yet watching the way Seth and Richie lashed out at each other. This was so much more than what she’d seen in Seth before they’d parted ways.

Their apparent hatred was what gave her hope at least. You don’t get that angry at somebody who meant nothing to you and while Seth was barely keeping control of his emotions, at least he wasn’t trying to leave Richie behind. It was about the only thing that made being caught in the middle of their venom, bearable; the knowledge that there was still a real chance they could work things out.

Rather than argue with Seth, she did as she was told. The shoes were much too large for her but good enough to keep her from hurting herself and while she glanced in Richie’s direction, Kate can’t quite bring herself to meet his gaze head on; Feeling like she was intruding just by bearing witness to their arguing.

“Let's just go, okay.” Her voice pitched low to Seth as she tried to channel a softer tone. As if somehow that might be enough to quiet his fury.
